Despite what the news is reporting:
We are currently living in the best possible time in history.
In terms of opportunities, the technology available at our fingertips and all that is possible and accessible for us in this world, fewer wars, famines (I understand there is still turmoil in the world) - but with all of that - we are still living in the best possible time to live. It is not reported to us that way because the news is designed to tell us all the bad stuff that is happening. There is so much more GOOD stuff happening in the world that people are doing - but the news doesn't report that stuff!
We are living in a time and place where you can become whoever you want to be!
So my question is:
There is so much information out in the world - books, websites, speakers - all helping people to 'find themselves'. I know there are times in life where we all feel like we don't know who we are or how we fit into the world but I am here to tell you today -
This lesson has taken me a long time to learn. I spent a lot of time searching for who I was supposed to be and what I was supposed to be doing and it wasn't until I started learning about myself and my beliefs and patterns a bit more, that I realised...I was never lost and that...
(Thank you, George Bernard Shaw!)
Don't you think it is time, now, as we move into 2019, a brand new year, that it is time for you to start creating yourself?
Time and time again, when speaking with my coach, he was constantly asking me -
Who do you need to become to live the life you want?
What type of person do you need to become to make a difference or take action?
Who do you need to become to go and serve the world?
Stop Wishing!
I know I am not alone in this - but I spent a lot of time wishing I was more confident or like that other person or had that skill etc. The reality is - we can wish until our heart's content but it won't actually get us anywhere. Dreaming or wishing about the person you want to become is wasting the person you already are!
Not taking action to become the person we want to become stems from our fears. Personally, I think it is mostly from fear of judgement and other people's opinions. Becoming who you want to be is never easy. It takes grit and perseverance and focus. But ultimately, it is your life. So you can spend your life wishing (like everyone else out there) or you can become who you were meant to be.
Finding Yourself through Creating yourself
In order to find yourself, you need to peel off layers. Those layers usually consist of years of conditioning to find the person behind the masks. We all wear masks in order to adapt or survive. Our childhood, before conditioning, was the last time we were without our masks- which simply means, we were our true selves.
But here is the cool thing about creating yourself! It is in the creation of ourselves that we eventually find ourselves. Once we start to nurture our souls, our dreams about who we want to be and what we want in life we find who we truly are.
Be patient with others.
The people you work with or your family, those closest to you, will be the last ones to notice or acknowledge the changes. It is often this reason, we find it so hard to be who we truly are. With all good intentions, they will say they know who you are. But when that doesn't align with who you think you are or want to be, it creates angst. So be patient. Creating yourself takes courage and persistence - not just with yourself but with those around you. They will eventually notice and acknowledge through the consistent actions you take.
Check your mindset!
I promise you - what you are thinking now is becoming your future life. Our thoughts create our actions, our actions create our character, our character creates our reality. What we think we become. This is not new and this is everywhere and yet we STILL (self-included) do not check in with our thoughts often enough.
FACT: Creating yourself and determining your future all starts in the mind.
So how do we create ourselves and where do we start?
I am so glad you asked that question!
I heard earlier in the year someone talking about to-do lists versus to-be lists. (I actually think it was Mel Robbins who wrote 'The Five Second Rule' which I highly recommend!) I loved the idea! So here are some questions you could ask yourself if you were writing a 'To-Be' List.
Creating ourselves to become the person we want to be, requires daily consistent practice and asking the right questions. Writing the answers to these questions down and having them somewhere you can read them every morning might help too!
Who do I need to be today?
What attributes and qualities would the best version of myself have and bring?
How would the best version of myself use my voice to express myself today?
How would the best version of myself respond to any challenges today?
How would my best self lead others today?
What choices do I need to make today to get me to live the best version of myself?
Our ability to create ourselves - to become who we see ourselves as in our soul - begins with the belief in ourselves, the confidence that we have what it takes to become the dream to create ourselves.
How many people do you need to be before you can become yourself? We put on all these masks so other people won't be offended or be judgemental but like I have said before - what they think of you has nothing to do with you. The older I get the more acutely aware I become of the fact that - we only have one chance at living the best life we can possibly live! Why then, do we waste so much energy on worrying about what other people think of us!
Every morning is a new opportunity. You won't always get it right. But you have a new chance every morning to be the person you want to be. All you have to do is decide to do it. If you don't make the time to work on creating the life you really want, you will eventually be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life you don't want.
Be proud of where you are and who you are becoming. Live your truth, express your love, share your enthusiasm, take actions towards your dreams, walk your talk and think of yourself as the person you want to become. Who you are tomorrow starts with who you are and what you do today.
So remember to:
Until next year
...have the happiest New Year! Wishing you all a blessed and magnificent 2019!
With love,
Clarissa xo
